• The valueless experiment

You rally a million scientists to test for God, the results come back 99% certain there is God. You calculate the odds of that happening by accident and find them to be ~0. “They” have a hypothesis God exists, calculate the odds of God not answering the temptation as ~0. Their explanation is better at explaining the Universe, they win. And all the while, I am the narrator and I inform you the result was an accident. A fluke. Your trust of science betrayed you.

  • FTL comms

Murgur is staying put on planet Beta Mugamis 3, while Xzurgur flies out to test his new FTL drive. In order to ensure that the light beam 1 (moving from Murgur to the right) reads out the same speed in both coordinate systems, you have to flip the Xzurgur’s space axis to the other side of the light beam. But once you do that, you have a mayor problem with light beam 2 (moving toward Murgur from right to left). Murgur measures that this particular light beam has speed c, as he would expect. But Xzurgur will measure the same light beam as having speed -c, which is not good news at all!

  • Maximum power transfer theorem done sanely

But it appears that instead of this level-headed question, for FORTY years people were thinking backwards and equating maximum power consumed for given voltage with maximum power consumable. I really would like to know if human progress was DELAYED by a work-lifetime because of a stupid science error. I really would like to know. Would somebody make a guerilla documentary on that? Put it on video-sharing websites.

  • On the many ways of being wrong

So now for the big conclusion. We counted the number of statements regarding Darwinian evolution, we found that every part must be right for the whole to be right and we therefore counted that wrong statements outnumber right statements by a factor of 15! If we add another pair of propositions to the list: “change of a species” versus “change of an individual”, then we double the number of possible statements but there is still only one correct statement. The wrongs now outnumber the rights by a factor of 31!

  • Today is Ahmadi family remembrance day

On this day a year ago, Zamari Ahmadi and most of his family was killed in a US drone strike outside their home. He was a humanitarian worker, and one of the last people to be killed by US troops in Afghanistan. On this day we remember them, and all the other innocent killed in the Middle East by the Americans during their wars in the first quarter of the 21st century.

  • The best place for home

Excuse me? Yes, the Asteroid belt is actually the worst place in the entire Solar system for your home. Okay, second worst. It all comes down to energy, again.

  • Landing on planets is a bad idea

You invest energy into yourself to exit the gravity well of the planet you are on, say Earth. And then when you reach another planet, like Mars, you have to descend into its gravity well to be able to land on the planet. Without mincing words: you throw away all that energy you put into yourself.
